Carum carvi
Undemanding spice plant with 90-120 cm tall growth, large flowering spikes and spicy flavour.
Cumin is known to have been used since the early Middle Ages, is widespread in northern and central Europe and can sometimes be found running wild. The plants are insensitive to frost, usually only form the leaf rosette in the first year and then flower in the second year. Caraway thrives best on loamy, calcareous soils.
